How To Make A Delicious Alfredo

Alfredo is a comfort dish that everybody loves. There are many different ways to make it with some being more complicated than others. This method is simple and allows for a lot of substitutions, which makes it easier if you’re trying to use things you already have in your kitchen, like olio extravirgine.

The first thing you have to do to make your Alfredo is to cook your pasta. Fettuccine is a popular choice, but any long thing type of pasta like spaghetti or linguine will work the same. If you don’t have any on hand, macaroni type pasta can also work in a pinch, but it’s not very traditional. While you’re cooking your pasta to be al dente, you can get started on your sauce. A good Alfredo will need garlic and lots of it. Pour a generous amount of oil into your pan to get things started. Some people prefer to use butter, which can also work. To the oil, add your chopped up garlic and allow it to infuse into the oil and get toasted. Once that is done, you can pour either cream or milk into your sauce pan depending on the creaminess you want.

If you want your sauce to thicken, adding a flour slurry will work. To the sauce, add a generous amount of cheese. Parmesan is traditionally used, but any cheese will be delicious. Parsley is a great herb to add in, but any herb of your choice will do. Once your pasta is cooked, drain it and add it to your sauce, mixing well. Keep it on the stove for a few minutes to allow the pasta to absorb the sauce and to allow the sauce to thicken further.
