Smart Street Light

A smart street light implements cameras and light-sensing photocells, in combination with other sensors, to attain real-time monitoring capabilities. The given street light can detect movement and thereafter conduct dynamic lighting and dimming. A system of smart street lighting involves interpersonal communication, where if a car or bicycle is detected - the lights in the path of movement will automatically brighten.

Smart street lights improve safety for commuters, and allow for a reduced use of energy since they do not have to be 'on' at all points in time. They also lead to lower levels of carbon emission and diminished light pollution.

Smart street lights are often also combined with image and weather sensors - to help with parking management, weather-based actions and emergency responses in case of an accident.
