Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) is a a specific study determining the overall potential impact of a traffic generator.

A TIA is usually conducted prior to the commencement of a project, in order to measure its likely impact on traffic in the immediate and surrounding regions. The analysis report typically comprises a detailed descriptions of the project and its scope, an overview of the projected impact, and recommendations for how the proposed development can be accommodated without adversely affecting traffic in the zone.

The technical analysis conducted helps planners gauge the efficacy of existing roadways and make requisite improvements. It is also an important safety measure and is widely used as a planning tool prior to any proposed development project.
