Edge Computing is a concept of deploying IT workloads to local, decentralized edge devices. Opposed to run IT workloads centrally in the cloud, a decentralized edge computing approach enables lower latencies and reduces bandwidth usage. Edge computing and cloud computing can be combined by processing latency critical workloads on local edge devices and storing the resulting metadata centrally in the cloud.
