What is headway?

Headway is the time that elapses between the arrival of the leading vehicle and the following vehicle at the designated test point.

As illustrated by the graphic below, headway is the time that passes between the front bumpers of two vehicles pass the designated test point.

Headway is usually reported in units of seconds.
